Expansions Poll

For this Poll, send us the 2 options you voted for via email to BTFgamestaff@gmail.com. Based on the poll results, two Expansions will be Unlocked at Tier 0: 0/300 - this does not mean that they grant any benefits, only that they can now be progressed and eventually accessed.

If you have attended a BTF Event as a Player Character, you are eligible for this Poll. This is whether you attended 1 Event or all of our Events.

The Polls will close two weeks after opening (02/26/2023; 11:59 PM)

The Choices (more details below):

Delver’s District (Dives): A rough and tumble part of town for mercenaries and monster hunters.

La Gran Fragua (Forge): industry, manufactoriums, and employment.

Lotuslight Gardens (Gardens): Brings culture and uplifts the Arts

Stormbringer Spire (Spire): Protects town from Magna-storms and other disasters.

Tradewinds Quarter (Crossroads): the exchange of cultures and the clasp of friends.

Whispering Henge (Henge): a district for Arcanists and the arcane.

Delver’s District (Dives)

A rough and tumble part of town for mercenaries and monster hunters.

  • After 10 minutes of discussion with others regarding combat tactics and monster hunting techniques, you may apply “Vorpal Lore” to yourself or another willing Character. This requires the expenditure of five minor Death or Abyssal components, representing resources spent in one’s research

Vorpal Lore (1 ATN): Your Smite attacks and damaging Spells inflict one more point of damage than normal, adhering to the damage limits. However, you are not able to grant Healing or Resolve that exceeds more than one point.

  • The damage bonus of Vorpal Lore is further increased for this Event. However, this also boosts criminal activity in the region.

La Gran Fragua (Forge)

Illustrados industry, Templar dedication, and Free Tribe innovation have raised a manufacturing district in town: “the Great Forge”. In this development’s shadow, craftworks are improved in ease and employment can yield better rewards.

  • — When you perform an NPC shift of at least 5 Hours, you gain 1 more Basic CMP. Furthermore, for every two Expansions at Tier 3 (including this one if applicable), this is increased further by 1 Basic CMP.

    — When you use a skill to make an Admixture effect (e.g. Transmute Element, Chem Maker, Crafty Improvisation) and no other effect, it does not expend your Craft-Ritual action for that Period. You must be within 10 feet of and/or interacting with the Builder Box (which cannot leave the Cantina) -- you cannot use any Admixture effect again until the next Period.

    — Furthermore, reduce the cost of crafting a Workshop by 1 Pure CMP. This discount has no bearing on any Superior CMP requirements but it may improve as the Forge grows.

  • The wheels of industry spin ever faster, causing industrial runoff and Scrap Geists. On the other hand, PCs may donate their Periodic Craft-Ritual action during Sign-in or Market Hour to gain a B.CMP - this represents short-term industrial employment.

Lotuslight Gardens (Gardens)

The Carminians, the Tecnocracia, the Ghoststars, the Gardeners, and similarly inclined aesthetes have made an allied enclave to bring “culture” and uplift the Arts.

  • -- Counselors and Arcanists may use the Restful Composition skill or assist others as though they had it if they are in the Cantina (or a similar structure) or within 50 feet of it. Doing this requires a Craft-Ritual action but only takes 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes.

Restful Composition, Soothing Meal, and Restore Focus all only take 5 minutes to perform and grant +1 Greater Resolve.

    — NPC shifts are always considered Archfaction Delves for the purposes of gaining Loyalty for that Event. Normally, missing an Archfaction Delve due to being in an NPC shift still awards Loyalty for that Event.

  • The influx of society and artistry brings new life and new perspective to Snakewater, spurring creativity to new heights. The Resolve granted by Tier 1 is increased by an additional +1 and all Craft-Ritual actions outside of Market Hour are considered to be augmented by either Bonus Output or Bonus Quality. However, strange beings and strange individuals may be drawn to the luster of this creativity and color.

Stormbringer Spire (Spire)

An amalgamation of the eldritch and the mechanical, these Spires shield a town from harm. With further innovation, they can also empower the machinery and spellcraft of those nearby.

  • When Infrastructure damage is taken by Snakewater from Magnetic Manastorms, Warp Quakes, or similar para-natural phenomena, this Expansion takes the damage instead.

If the Spire is brought to Tier 0 (0/300), the Expansion remains unlocked but the remaining infrastructure damage is spread among the other unlocked Town Expansions. While they were mild during 99 BTF (except for in December), Magna-storms affect Snakewater every six months and inflict 20-120 points of Infrastructure damage to every Expansion.

  • The Spires course with etheric power. Any Infrastructure damage from para-natural phenomena is halved during this Event. Smite and Spells attacks with Lightning damage are improved. On the other hand, entities of lightning and/or flame may be drawn to this place.

Tradewinds Quarter (Crossroads)

Snakewater is a melting pot of culture and economy. Even for those Factions who have little reason to co-mingle, this can yield great dividends and conjure great alliances.

  • More competition means better bargains.

During Market Hour, the additional costs of trading are waived. E.G. 5 Rare CMP → 5 Rare CMP OR 5 Rare CMP → 5 Pure CMP, all without an additional cost. Requesting a specific CMP, a Prismatic CMP, or a Superior CMP still has an additional cost associated with it.

When you use a Craft-Ritual Action during Market Hour, the Type (not Tier) of the Component is irrelevant, except for those crafts/rituals that require Prismatic Components or those that produce Superior Items (or similar Erudite/Superior level effects) - this is redundant with Market Exchange Tier 3.

  • With the influx of people comes a greater number of mercantile and technical knowledge. The next Event will have an additional Market Hour or will feature a cultural celebration of a Subfaction that everyone is invited to attend. On the other hand, bad actors or discordant elements may attempt to sabotage good will, pursue vendettas, or attack the town’s infrastructure.

Whispering Henge (Henge)

This district is named for the henge to the Wildling Whispers at its center, though it is far from solely religious. Though a rarity in humanity, many Channelers of many different faiths have gathered here to visit, to trade, to commingle, and to reside.

  • While touching the Arcane Hengestone (called an Arc-Stone) You may expend an Attunement slot to waive the Adept Attunement cost of two Etheric Spheres. Doing so inflicts Theurgic Overcharge upon you (Incurable Curse; expires next Month). This Curse limits your choice of health (max 7 HP), aggression (max 1 dmg), or empathy (max Heal/Resolve 1). Label as “Thergic Overcharge (HP)”, replacing HP with DMG or H/R as appropriate.

Those without magical ability can imbue themselves with “Theurgic Overcharge (Adept)” [2 ATN]. This allows them to count as having an Adept Attunement when crafting certain items or having an Adept Attunement for using certain item Augments (e.g. Eldritchcraft weaponry, etc).

  • The spirits and energies of the land surge in power. During this time, hungering spirits or immaterial specters flow into the world and roam the area. Affliction spirits and energies are also rampant - using the Distil Disease skill (or a similar effect) always yields a Basic CMP instead of a Minor CMP.
