Q&A Session 2 (10/03/21)
Question and Answer Portion ONLy
Pre-Session Questions included
Havoc: Can you hold a rune wand/shield/weapon and an arcane ember in one hand?
Good question! The intent of Skills like Arcane Ember and Project Halo is that you are holding nothing except the Light source in that hand. The Game Rule has been amended to reflect this intent. Take note that attacks that hit weapons that are on your person but that are not being “wielded” are counted as hitting you. Also, most beneficial effects of Weapon Augments are only effective while they are wielded.
Havoc: Starting off with loyalty 2, you can request 1 lesser Boon per event for 1 minor Component and 1 interim action. If a person starts off with this before their first game, does this take effect before their first game, during, or between their first and second?
Here are the rules for Loyalty Boons and Interim Actions. Most new Player Characters are not able to utilize Interim Actions unless the Player is Pre-registered for that Event and notes their action in the Pre-Registration process -- this occurs before their Event as long as the requisite Component cost is paid.
The Interim Action that is received for normal Attendance only applies for the Interim Action after the Event that was bought.
Havoc: Can spells like project wrath be delivered via weapon strike
Currently, the only way to do so is through the Rune-Forged Weapon Augment although this might be subject to change.
Havoc: Last Q&A you mentioned the Theurgic Anchoring skill for arcanist. Will the required locations be available at the start of game?
None of the required locations will be available except for the Graveyard. All the other Workshops (e.g. Hallowed Shrines, Bone-yards, Outsider Obelisks, etc) must be crafted by the Player base or gifted by NPCs for specific Player actions. That said, there are other ways to Anchor one’s self to one’s Theurgic Anchor besides the use of these Workshops -- for example, attuning to the Xenotheurgic Anchor can be done simply by meditating for 10 minutes while at your Downed Count, although this does render a person vulnerable to theft and assassination.
Havoc: Is the market hour faction locked?
It is not Faction Locked.
Market hour - At least twice an Event, tradesfolk come to town -- these facilitate the barter of Components and augment Crafts/Rituals that are done during that hour. In an out-of-game perspective, extra logistical personnel are assigned to attend to the Player Base during Market Hour, making it a prime time (in-game and out-of-game) for Crafting and performing Rituals.
Havoc: Hyper-refined vial augment, they say you may give "this effect, or that effect" as a step effect. If these two options are a step effect, what is the primary effect?
This was a typographical error. Hyper-refined Vials used to have a negative effect followed by a beneficial effect but this is no longer the case. The text has been adjusted to remove the fact that it is a Step effect.
Havoc: When it comes to the kindly cartels Hunter-Assassins. It says their suits are different, how so? I get the feeling they have two outfits. A business suit and a "work" outfit. Am I wrong in this assumption? It also says they are afforded some measure of erratic idiosyncrasy or strangeness. I am assuming this is in relation to the madness and uncontrollability that magic's influence can leave.
This line of flavor text refers to the fact that Hunter-Assassins might not always be wearing identifying Cartel clothing, especially if they are seeking out human prey. On the other hand, it also alludes to the fact that Hunter-Assassins may have Cartel/Guild specific attire or adornments that identify their role to their associates.
The line about idiosyncrasy or strangeness refers to the fact that the Cartel sometimes puts aside its qualms about Operatives that are good at their job.
Havoc: Under Skill Kit Augments, Venum Vial Augments, Venom Oil: it can apply 3 different CC effects but 2 of them are identical.
This was a typographical error. Venom Oil applies either the Hobble or the Mangle effects of the Strike duration (30 seconds).
Havoc: When applying skill kit augments, in some areas I feel you apply the big category such as swarm vial augment and can throw all of the different vials under it. And then in other instances, such as eldritch vial augment, you need to pick a specific vial under it and you can only use that one vial. Am I understanding this correctly, that some augments you get multiple things and some you get one?
With Skill Kit Augments, you choose one of the listed Augments -- you do not get all of them. The word “Augment” is now plural to reflect the fact that these Swarm Vials and the like are categories of Augments, not one singular Augment.
Cabbit: Adjuncts- how do they function?
Adjuncts are Player Characters that are occasionally entrusted with out-of-game tasks. This includes costuming, prop making, playing a specific NPC. These individuals have shown extraordinary talent and trustworthiness so that Game Staff may rely on them when needed.
Take note that being an Adjunct grants no authority over other Player Characters unless they are temporarily given the task of Game Marshall for a specific scenario, module, or Delve.
Cabbit: Visuals on how the staff wants the game to look costuming wise?
We have recently uploaded basic summaries of each Archfaction’s costuming to the website. We also have some watermarked photographs that we will be showing off soon!
Cabbit: What is Eldritch Corruption?
Eldritch Corruption (aka Spell Sever) is explained in greater detail at the end of Magic Overview section. It reflects the dangers and evils in magic use via insidious maladies that infirm or hinder Channelers.
“Whenever an Arcanist or a Channeler (any character that can use a Spell) gains a new Milestone, they are affected by Eldritch Corruption. While the character does not make this choice, the Player chooses which effect (see list of Course below) they receive. Spell-Severs may be cured as though they were an Anathemic Curse that requires 3 Pure components to cure”
Cabbit: how is damage above 1 called/invoked?
Basic melee strikes inflict one point of physical damage and do not require a verbal action. Damage above 1 or dealing damage that is other than physical requires a verbal call. Ranged attacks must always be called and will on average deal more damage.
WillS: which races can mate? Ie:can gemling and a wildling mate since they are both human base?
Chimera: Can reproduce with other humans
Eidolonic: Cannot reproduce but they can spread their Stigmata
Metabionic: Cannot reproduce because of Magnetic Mana Cores.
Necrotic: Cannot reproduce but they can spread their Stigmata
Psions: Can reproduce with other humans
Seraphs: Can reproduce with other humans
Furthermore, when two individuals with Bloodline Stigmata have children, their children will manifest a maximum of one Bloodline Stigmata of their parentage. They may not have more than one Bloodline Stigmata. Some of these children will manifest no such Stigmata instead. Therefore, if a Chimera and a Seraph have children, their scions will have the Seraphic Stigmata, the Chimeric Stigmata, or neither.
